I am proud to report that Zoe was the kindergarten runner-up in New Jersey Network's 11th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest for her book, "The Only Horse."

It seems like a good time to say thank you to The New School for fostering an environment where art is deeply valued. Zoe literally quit coloring six months ago because she was so tired of the endless stream of dittoes and pre-designed crafts at her last school. Now she draws an entire world of enchanting little animals and characters, many inspired by the work of her classmates who know nothing different than the freedom to imagine and create. If I could just get her to stop drawing on the furniture ...!
